Lesson Overview
Students will listen to Arlein Fransen discuss the early history of Jerauld County, part of the Heartland Region.    

Standards Based Goal
Students will study their local community and its history, analyze their life style and summarize possible reasons for movement /settlement in varying areas, draw conclusions as to why the people supported themselves the way they did, recognize relationship between rights, respect, responsibilities and consequences of citizenship.  

Student Objectives  
Students will compare culture of early inhabitants with present day culture.  They will recognize and discuss past influences on present day culture.

Prerequisite Skills
Self awareness, tolerance of differences and have read article about Early History of Jerauld County on web site.
